Meet the Team

Who is in the team?

The school nurse teams work for the NHS and not for the school but are commissioned by the Local authority to provide a service to the schools in Derbyshire. The school nurse teams are part of the 0-19 public health service which is funded by Derbyshire County Council and delivered by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust.
Each School Nurse Team is made up of different staff members:-

SCPHN(School Nurse)

We are qualified nurses who have also completed a degree in public health nursing, school nursing. We lead the teams in each area and have specific skills and knowledge to help children, young people and families with their health needs or to signpost them on to other services once an assessment has been completed..

Community Staff Nurses

We are qualified nurse who have the skills and knowledge to help children, young people and families with their health needs or to signpost them on to other services once an assessment has been completed.

Healthy child assistant practitioners

We are all qualified Nursery Nurses who have the been given extra training to help schools to complete the Healthy School Community award. We also have the skills and knowledge to help children, young people and families with specific health needs or to signpost them on to other services once an assessment has been completed by the School Nurse or Community Staff Nurse

Healthy child support worker

We are also qualified nursery nurses who also have the skills and knowledge to help children, young people and families with specific health needs or to signpost them on to other services once an assessment has been completed by the School Nurse or Community Staff Nurse

Health care assistants

We are in all the primary school completing the screening in reception and year 6.
